Honestly the easiest day we've had in years. The number Marty wrote down at the estimate is the number we paid, the guys rolled in right at seven, and every piece of furniture was blanket-wrapped before it left the bedroom. Our place sits up off a steep gravel drive and I figured the truck would never make it, but they eased that trailer down without bumping a single thing. Not a mark on a wall.

Our old farmhouse near Valley Springs has this awful narrow back porch and a flight of stairs that barely fits one person, and not one of these guys ever got short with it. They Tetris-ed that truck so well it all went in one load — I'd budgeted for two trips and the second never happened, which knocked a good chunk off the bill. Couldn't be happier.

They padded my lamps, wrapped the dresser, and worked so quiet and steady I'd forget they were even there. My grandmother's piano came down the porch steps without so much as a bump. Genuinely the kindest crew of young men you could hope to meet.

They showed up exactly when they said, parked the truck just off the square without ever blocking Main Street — which was the one thing I'd been worried about — and I was unpacking in my new spot before noon.
